A canvas can hold many boards, and the tab bar is how you move between them. Each tab is its own canvas; the bar runs along the bottom of the editor and shows them in a row, so the whole canvas is one click wide. The quick controls (Search, Settings and the appearance switch) sit at its right-hand end.
What you can do here
- Switch between boards by clicking a tab. A small stack of initials avatars on a tab shows who else is on it right now.
- Add a new tab with the + button straight after the last tab. It arrives numbered ("Tab 2", "Tab 3"), wearing the current tab's theme, background and font, in the same mode, on that mode's start, so you can begin from a template or close it to leave the tab blank.
- Rename a tab by double-clicking the active one, or from its menu.
- Reorder tabs by dragging them along the bar; a caret shows where the tab will land.
- Manage a tab from its menu: right-click any tab (it becomes the active one), or click the ⋯ button on the active tab. The menu holds Rename, Duplicate, Paste, Lock Tab and Delete, plus Add to Folder, Add to Another Canvas (link it into another canvas), import, export and more. See Context Menus.
- Organise related tabs into one-level folders with Add to Folder when a canvas grows. See Tab Folders.
On a view-only link the bar still switches tabs, but there is no + button and no tab menu. On a phone the "Tabs" label is dropped to save room.
For the depth, see Tabs: this bar is just the control surface for them.
