The Explorer panel is the Explorer inside the editor. Press the menu button (☰) in the top-left corner of the canvas and it opens under the button; press the button again, or click anywhere outside, and it closes. It reads the same library as the full-page Explorer, so you can browse your library, catch up on what happened and open another canvas without leaving the one you are on.
What the panel shows
- The current canvas at the top: its name, its visibility badge (Private, Shared, Team or This Browser) and its ⋯ menu. Click the name to rename it in place: Enter saves, Escape keeps the old name.
- The rail down the left lists every section, grouped as on the Explorer page: Overview (Home, Inbox, Timeline, Shared With Me), Spaces (My Work and each of your teams) and More (Favourites, Library and Trash).
- The pane on the right shows the section you pick, a page at a time; Show more loads the next page. Home shows the canvases you were last in, and the Inbox, the Timeline (what happened, by day, with Show more for earlier days), the Library and the Trash open right there too. The Library holds your Image Gallery and your Shape Libraries, each on a tab of its own. My Work and each team list their folders and canvases; a folder opens right there in the pane, and picking a canvas opens it in the editor, while an item from another liveworkspace app opens on that app's site. Open Page at the top of the pane takes that section to the full Explorer, and New Folder makes a folder in My Work or the team you are looking at.
- The panel opens on Home and then remembers the section you last picked.
- This Browser, near the foot, shows how many canvases are saved only in this browser and opens their page (Offline Mode). It appears only while there is at least one.
- Along the foot are livediagram's other places: Home, Explorer, Community (when it is on) and Help.
It is the same data as the full page: a rename or a star shows in both at once. Each canvas has the same menu as on the Explorer page, from its ⋯ button or a right-click, so Change Folder, Share, Add to Favourites, History (the canvas's own Timeline) and the rest work here too. The panel's menu adds Take Offline, which moves a canvas into this browser (Offline Mode); Sync Canvas moves one back to your account. Drag one of your own canvases onto a folder in the pane, or onto My Work or a team in the rail, to file it there; rest it on a section in the rail for a moment and that section opens.
The ⋯ button in the panel's header, beside the help button, opens a menu with New Canvas and Open Explorer (the full-page library), then Share and Export for the canvas you are in, then Search, GitHub (the open-source code), Licences and Settings. With power user mode's Minimal chrome on, the help button moves into this menu as Help.
When you will see it
- In the editor, to jump to another canvas without going back to the library. Zen mode hides the menu button with the rest of the chrome.
- On a phone, the panel opens under the menu button across the screen: the sections become a row of chips over the pane.
- When a canvas can't be opened, it stays available beside the error screen, so you can pick another canvas.
Like everywhere else in the Explorer, the panel works whether or not you are signed in.
