The Inbox sits under Home in the Explorer sidebar's Overview group. It lists what is still open for you, in one place for every liveworkspace app: the actions waiting on you, the ones you handed to someone else, and the comment threads nobody has resolved yet.
What lands here
The page has up to three sections for your canvases, each with a count beside its heading:
- Assigned to You: every open action assigned to you, until it is done. An action you assigned to yourself lives here too, so the page doubles as your to-do list.
- Assigned by You: open actions you gave to someone else, so you can follow them up.
- Open Comment Threads: unresolved threads you are part of: on your own canvases, threads you wrote in, and threads where someone mentioned you. A thread you were mentioned in says Mentioned you, one on your own canvas that you have not replied to yet says On your canvas, and one you replied in says You replied.
A section with nothing in it is left out. Done actions and resolved threads are not listed: the Inbox is a list of what is outstanding, not a history. When nothing is waiting, the page says You’re all caught up.
With Canvases chosen at the top of the page, the Inbox lists only what comes from your canvases; with All Apps, it lists every app's, and each row names its app. Other apps add their own kinds of row there, such as liveplanner's Form Responses section.
Reading and opening a row
Each row names the canvas it is from and the thing it is about, with the latest change, and on the right the person behind it with how long ago. Click a row and the canvas opens at that spot, with the action or thread ready, so you can reply, resolve or finish it there. A row from another app opens in that app.
The badge
The Inbox row in the sidebar shows a count of the open actions assigned to you, so you can tell from any other page whether something needs you. Work you handed out and comment threads are not counted.
Canvases saved only in this browser
In the editor's Explorer panel, the Inbox also lists the open actions and comment threads of canvases saved only in This Browser (Offline Mode), with everything else. Each of their rows carries a This Browser pill, because the canvas is kept in this browser and nowhere else. Nobody else sees those rows, and another browser or device won't list them. The Explorer page lists only what your account or guest identity holds.
Guests and signing in
The Inbox works without an account, like the rest of livediagram. When you sign in, what you did as a guest moves to your account with your canvases.
